There has been a wonderful push towards “prejuvenation” in recent years. Unfortunately, most of the conversation around this topic has been focused on “Preventative Botox™”. This approach is misguided. Don’t fall for the marketing claim - if you have no resting lines or wrinkles, this is a waste of money.

By far the most common complaints from our patients have to do with lines, wrinkles, and volume loss. These are all hallmark signs of aging.

Each is due to different factors and is often indicative of the 3D nature of aging. We take each change into account during our treatment plan to ensure facial harmonization.

The deeper changes that occur with aging, bone resorption and fat pads shrinking and shifting, lead to overall volume loss and the appearance of gravity starting to win the battle. A common example of the intricate nature of these changes can be demonstrated when looking at smile lines or jowling. They are often the results of fat loss in the upper face/cheeks. Utilizing soft-tissue or biostimulatory Fillers to help restore structure and youthful contour is integral to combat these changes. To maintain facial harmonization and ensure a refreshed, undone appearance, we pride ourselves in addressing the face as a whole.

More superficially lines and wrinkles form in our skin from both repetitive muscle movement and the depletion of collagen and elastin. These changes are targeted with Lasers and Energy-based Devices to build back collagen and smooth out skin texture. Neuromodulators are also important in tandem to not only reverse the lines and wrinkles that form on the upper face but also prevent new ones from forming.

Not only can acne be terribly distressing, but the permanent marks left behind can serve as a painful reminder.

Acne scars can vary in appearance and can be stubborn to treat. The best treatment depends on several factors including the type of scarring, whether or not there is redness or hyperpigmentation, and your skin type. At Soho Skin and Hair, Dr. Finney likes to combine several modalities in each treatment session to maximize your treatment efficacy:

• Lasers to target pigment or redness left behind by acne.

• Subcision or Excision to help break up or remove the abnormal tissue that tethers down the scar.

• Topical or injectable biostimulatory molecules - often done at the same time as subcision to further wake up your skin cells collagen production to plump up the depressed scars.

• Microneedling with or without Radiofrequency or Fractional Laser Resurfacing - the most important step for improving the superficial texture of the skin to smooth out the scars.

There are many different causes of unwanted pigment or brown spots. The most common culprits can be marks left behind from acne, UV damage, or a condition triggered by hormones called melasma.
